Foscarini Buds 1 - Beautifully shaped table lamp in mouth blown glass


Already in the 1990s the series Buds was created for the premium lighting manufacturer Foscarini. The Italian designer Rodolfo Dordoni drew this design inspired by nature, which has now been reworked and reinterpreted. The design of the lamp is particularly impressive due to the use of glass as a material and the special colour and shape.

Buds 1 is a special table lamp whose shape is based on a bud sprouting in spring. The elongated and narrowly tapered diffuser reflects this association wonderfully. The diffuser is handmade and consists of five layers of mouth-blown glass, the so-called five-layer glass (Incamiciato technique). The straw-yellow glass layer inside is not immediately visible when switched off, making the light warmer and more intense when the table lamp Buds 1 is switched on. This creates the special effect that the lamp is plain white when switched off and becomes ivory when illuminated. The base of the lamp Buds 1 is made of high-quality and transparent plastic, which is milled to measure and mirror polished by hand. The on/off switch is located on the transparent cable of the supply line.
