Atmospherically illuminated hanging light Maluma™ made of mouth-blown Glas The pendant light by designer Fumie Shibata, which was launched in 2021, is an eye-catcher in the room when switched on and off, as it always retains its colour. The lampshade is made of mouth-blown frosted glass, which has been formed in soft curves to create a decorative shade that diffuses the light from the inserted lamp into the room and also emits it directly and functionally through the glass, which is open at the bottom. Maluma™ is just one example of the understated serenity of Fumie Shibata's designs, which combine form and function in a way that blends into everyday life almost unnoticed. Fumie Shibata (*1965) is a Japanese product designer whose focus is on industrial design. She studied at Musashino Art University and then worked at Toshiba. In 1994, she founded her own design studio, Studio S. She has received numerous awards for her work, including the Mainichi Award, the Good Design Award, the Red Dot Award and the iF Gold Award. She has been teaching as a professor at Musashino Art University since 2014 and has been vice-chair of the Good Design Award committee since 2015. The beautiful Maluma™ glass pendant light is manufactured by the Danish company FRITZ HANSEN, which has stood for the high-quality craftsmanship of exclusive designs for almost 150 years.
