Gräshoppa designer floor lamp with adjustable head - a design icon by Greta Magnusson Grossman The Gräshoppa floor lamp is given a lively touch by the slightly tilted back three-legged frame, making it a trendy furnishing accessory for many living areas. The head of the luminaire is conically formed and can be adjusted so that the direction of light can be adapted to individual requirements. Gräshoppa is conveniently switched on and off using the foot switch integrated into the supply cable. The design was created by Swedish design pioneer Greta Magnusson Grossman and was introduced as early as 1947. Greta Magnusson Grossman (1906-1999) studied at the renowned Stockholm art school Konstfack and opened her own Studio - a combination of shop and workshop - in 1933. After marrying jazz musician Billy Grossman, she moved to California in 1940 and opened a shop on the famous Rodeo Drive in Los Angeles, becoming one of the first to bring the modern Scandinavian style to North America. Prominent artists of the time such as Joan Fontaine, Greta Garbo, Frank Sinatra and Ingrid Bergman were among her customers. The Danish brand manufacturer Gubi is a leader in design and interior furnishings: founded in 1967 by Lisbeth and Gubi Olsen, the company operates worldwide and produces high-quality designer furniture and lights.
