Patera Oval design pendant lamp - cell structure with clever internal light controlThe characteristic diamond-like structure of the Patera pendant lamp not only characterises its design, but is also the light output. The flat-oval body is composed of numerous matt white cells made of plastic. These are deliberately designed in such a way that the light comes out directly at the bottom and is reflected laterally from a viewing angle of 40° by the side walls of the cells and emitted indirectly. This allows Patera Oval, for example, to provide direct table lighting and soft ambient lighting at the same time. If required, the light emitted downwards by the E27 lamp to be used (not included) can be glare-reduced by inserting a diffuser supplied. The Danish designer Øivind Slaatto used the Fibonacci sequence as a model for the design of the structure, a mathematical series of consecutive numbers, each of which results from the addition of the two previous numbers. This sequence is revealed in numerous natural objects, such as the structure of leaves or snail shells. The Patera luminaire series ideally complements the maxim of the luminaire manufacturer Louis Poulsen, founded in 1874, to give form to light with deliberate designs and to generate a positive effect on people and space.
