Patera hanging light design - Spherical shade of light cells for 360° illumination
The Patera hanging lamp with its white spherical shade made of many small elements is simply modern. The design of Patera is based on the Fibonacci series and its shape resembles the cells of an organism often found in nature. Designer Øivind Slaatto has taken a very mathematical approach to designing the Patera hanging light to create a three-dimensional Sudoku. Inspired by nature and mathematics, the Patera was created with the aims of putting the viewer in a pleasant and positive atmosphere and to bring every room to life. As soon as the light is turned on, a fascinating light picture is created as each cell lights up. The light is mainly directed downwards with a smaller portion also shining upwards towards the ceiling and creating a very atmospheric lighting experience.
The Fibonacci sequence is a mathematical rule consisting of natural numbers, starting with two ones, and whose subsequent number always gives the sum of the two previous numbers. According to this Fibonacci sequence, the leaves or other parts in many plants are spiral-shaped for the best luminous efficiency and thus also the best growth.
