Beat Fat - handcrafted LED pendant light made of brass Beat Fat is an LED pendant light by designer Tom Dixon that is made of solid sheet brass. The design of this beautifully shaped pendant light, which is characterised by expressive minimalism, was inspired by the traditional water containers used in India to carry water from the well to the Hausen. The pendant lights in the Beat Fat series are also manufactured in India. In 2004, Tom Dixon was involved in an initiative in Jaipur to create alternative livelihood opportunities for the dwindling number of craftsmen there. This is where the Beat project was born. The lampshades in the Beat series are made from sheet brass using traditional brass craftsmanship, with the insides being beaten by hand. It takes up to four days to complete a lampshade. The handcrafted lights are unique, each one bearing the signature of the craftsman who made it.
