Initial situation
A new office location for Lampenwelt GmbH, Europe's leading online specialist market for light and lighting, was built in Rabanusstraße - right in the centre of Fulda - in 2021. To this end, the property to be occupied was almost gutted and completely refurbished. All lines, controls and areas were redefined, giving Lampenwelt immense possibilities: the aim was to create an office location that is a model of modern working in terms of its equipment and its focus on the well-being of employees.

Project realisation
As a leading online specialist store and one-stop shop for lighting with a team of highly competent lighting designers, lighting experts and lighting enthusiasts, Lampenwelt was able to take the entire lighting planning process into its own hands. Detailed 3D rendering enabled the lighting to be realistically mapped, planned and continuously optimised. The product selection and placement were precisely recorded in CAD plans so that the order could be handed over to the electrician and realised cleanly and precisely.

Result
An ultra-modern office with loft character has been created in the heart of Fulda. In terms of lighting levels, it not only fulfils all standards, but goes far beyond them. The entire office area is designed with the employee and their wellbeing in mind: It includes productive work areas with daylight white, shadow-free and low-glare light for maximum concentration as well as relaxation areas with a relaxing character and warm white lighting. The workstations were illuminated in accordance with ASR A3.4. This was realised with the high-quality light channels from Lightnet, which bring a very even and pleasant light into the rooms over a large area. In the open-plan office, the lighting channels were suspended above the workstations. In the closed offices flanking this area, these are recessed into the ceiling.

The open-plan area is characterised on the one hand by the light channels and on the other by a special eye-catcher in the centre of the space: a suspended Lightnet light in a cluster shape towers above a large, elongated meeting table. The contrast between the linear task lights and the loosening, rounded eye-catcher in the centre also makes the light stand out. The open-plan area is rounded off with indirect light from LED strips, which further modernise the look. Discreet, black downlights from XAL were used in the corridor areas and toilets. Some downlights sit in the break area, where they are combined with decorative pendant lights from Glamox. The entire lighting concept and each individual area can be controlled via KNX. In the open-plan area, the lighting also impresses with its flexibility for events and larger meetings: for events of this kind, the LED strips can be changed from a working light to a warm white, inviting light using CCT control. This means that different light scenes are possible with the same lights.
Conclusion
The basis for the office planning and therefore also the lighting was a New Works concept. Precise, professional lighting planning has created a prime example of a modern working environment that focusses on concentrated work as well as the well-being of employees. The project shows once again that the topic of lighting design is always a varied adventure between creativity, energy efficiency, minimalisation, diversity and conformity to standards, which offers a new task for every project.
