Mod classic in shiny new colours: Eclisse table lamp by Vico Magistretti Even though the Eclisse table lamp is undoubtedly one of today's designer light classics, its spherical, monochrome design reveals that it is actually a child of the 1960s. It was designed by Vico Magistretti in 1965 and was honoured two years later with the Compasso d'Oro, Italy's most famous industrial design prize. Neu has now brought out new editions of the popular model in additional colours. Eclisse is not only characterised by its classic appearance, but above all by the way it works. It has a kind of built-in mechanical dimmer. There is a second, smaller sphere in the hemisphere of the head, which can be rotated and thus pushed more or less in front of the opening of the outer sphere. This allows you to vary the intensity of the light and you can also influence whether you get more direct or indirect light. During his lifetime, the Italian designer and architect Vico Magistretti (1920-2006) worked for Fontana Arte, Oluce, Fritz Hansen and Kartell as well as the now world-famous designer light manufacturer Artemide. The company's own production facilities, glass factories and its own innovation and research centre form the basis for the success of Artemide lights, alongside renowned national and international designers.
