Designer table lamp Mendori in-ei in geometric design

The Japanese term "in-ei" means approximately shadow, shading or richness of shadows. This idea characterizes the appearance of the LED table lamp Mendori, which is composed of a folded shade modeled on a snail shell. The individual sections create a three-dimensional structure and are emphasized by light and shadow in an atmospheric way by the warm white light source located inside. The characteristic folding technique and the surface treatment of the recycled material give the lamp perfect shape stability even without a frame. If the table lamp Mendori is not needed, it can be easily folded and stored to save space.
Concept and technology of the unique table lamp Mendori go back to the design studio of the Japanese Issey Miyake. A program developed by Jun Mitani is used to design the bodies on mathematical and geometric bases. In collaboration with Artemide, the project has created the table lamp Mendori, a symbiosis of lighting expertise and innovative approach to materials and design.
