Tolomeo Micro table lamp in red

The Tolomeo Micro table lamp is the more compact and smaller version of the classic desk lamp. Thanks to its space-saving dimensions, it fits on even the smallest desk or side table. The height of the desk lamp in the normal working position is 37 cm, the depth 45 cm. The Tolomeo Micro also impresses with the same attributes as its big brother: the flexible joints allow individual adjustment of the lampshade and thus precise illumination as required. The Tolomeo table lamp has won various international design awards, including the "Compasso d'Oro" (1989) and the "Observeur du design" (2001). Designer and architect Michele de Lucchi developed the Tolomeo series of lights over 30 years ago together with architect Giancarlo Fassina. A mechanism that de Lucchi had seen fishermen using in Apulia served as inspiration for the later design of the desk lamp, which he initially wanted to create for his own workplace. The founder of Artemide, Ernesto Gismondi, was immediately enthusiastic about the designs, but the first prototypes did not work. It was only with the intervention of Giancarlo Fassina that this was remedied and the Tolomeo was brought to market.
