Bookshelf and light in one: the Bibliothèque Nationale floor lamp with USB connection This floor lamp by French designer Philippe Starck is just the thing for bookworms who always have their finger on the digital pulse. It can do more than just provide light next to your favourite armchair or sofa. Shelf-like stainless steel shelves are attached along the frame, providing space for books, mobile phones or tablet PCs. A USB socket at the base of the light serves as a charging station for tablets and smartphones so that you don't have to do without the benefits of the digital world when browsing through books. Philippe Starck, the designer, describes his Bibliothèque Nationale floor lamp as a "magical bookshelf where the books rise up and fly towards the light". Starck has already created several luminaire series for the Italian lighting manufacturer FLOS. FLOS has already won many awards with the designs of its versatile and imaginative designers and is internationally recognised for its designer luminaires.
