Chanpen dimmable table lamp with a lampshade made from banana fibre
The lampshade of the Chanpen table lamp is perfectly circular, giving it a look not unlike a full moon – which is what ‘Chanpen’ translates as. The lampshade is covered with fibres from the banana plant, also known as abacá. The diagonally running fibres create a diamond pattern reminiscent of a diamond’s cut. Chanpen is dimmable using the rotary dimmer integrated into the base.
The designer Anon Pairot developed a series of lights called Chanpen for the French lighting manufacturer Forestier. He has previously worked for well-known brands such as Fendi, Habitat and Grohe, and at Forestier he was able to indulge his preference for working with natural materials and design the Chanpen light made from hemp.
