Founded in 1981, the Foscarini brand has always been concerned with the material glass, constantly trying to reinterpret it in innovative ways. In collaboration with the designer duo Ludovica and Roberto Palomba, the Gem series of lamps was created, inspired by the reactions of liquid to various sound waves.

The glass of the round shade is mouth-blown and receives a pattern of fine lines through an elaborate casting technique. The pattern looks like gentle waves that seem to flow over the entire surface. Thus the material appears very delicate and enchants the viewer with an interesting play of three-dimensional facets. The pattern makes the luminaire a true work of art even when switched off. With its clear lines, the metal base of the lamp forms a contrast to the flowing design of the shade, and its simplicity directs the viewer's focus to the glass shade. With the help of the integrated dimmer, the brightness of the lamp can be adjusted individually depending on the choice of illuminant.
