Foscarini Le Soleil – dimmable LED pendant light

Dynamic, exciting lighting designs are the speciality of Vicente García Jiménez, who laid the foundation for Foscarini's Le Soleil lighting family in 2009. Inspired by the architecture of the Guggenheim Museum in New York, Jiménez designed a lamp body with a very special aura. The designer combines six rings of injection-moulded polycarbonate, which catch the eye with their slanted cut and varying diameters, to form a multi-layered lampshade.

The opaque bands cleverly direct the warm LED light through their gaps and, thanks to their slanted cut, create uneven illumination of the outer surfaces. At the same time, a directed beam of light is emitted downwards to illuminate the area below. The dynamic, architecturally inspired interplay of light and shadow is what gives the Le Soleil pendant light that certain something extra – regardless of whether it is used in a residential or commercial setting. Even more individual lighting scenes can be achieved by using a suitable dimmer.

After studying industrial design in Castellón de la Plana, Vicente García Jiménez first worked in Barcelona for renowned manufacturers in the lighting and furniture industry before opening his own design studio in Udine in 2005. Le Soleil by Foscarini is one of his most significant designs.
