A super magnet made of rare earth is the heart and namesake of the Magneto LED floor lamp from Foscarini. This futuristic model was designed in 2011 by Giulio Iacchetti, an Italian product designer who deals mainly with industrial design.

While the base and shaft of the floor lamp Magneto are kept simple and inconspicuous, the head of the light is home to the extraordinary superpower. The spotlight resembles a torch in shape and light output and its flexibility is also very similar to that of a mobile hand lamp. It appears that the spotlight is connected to the base of the light only by the cable running up the shaft. But when you look more closely, you notice a small, inconspicuous sphere between the spotlight and the shaft. But this sphere is not so inconspicuous, because it is made of elements of rare earth and has superpowers in the truest sense of the word. It is a powerful magnet that acts as a joint between the spotlight and the base and enables the flexible, almost unlimited alignment of a precise beam of light. Ten openings in the frame of the lamp also offer the possibility to connect the spotlight to the base at different heights.

Magneto is absolutely a futuristic eye-catcher, but also convincing in terms of its lighting effect. Directed at the ceiling, a harmonious general lighting is created.
