Foscarini Rituals handblown glass ceiling light


Thin and soft like a Japanese paper lantern, the ceiling light Rituals is from the Venetian premium brand lighting manufacturer Foscarini. This rice paper effect is created by the delicate groove pattern, which horizontally crosses the shade of the ceiling lamp. In fact, Rituals is not made of paper, but of high quality, handblown opal glass. The grooves in the glass surface are produced by the application of a special industrial process based on the craftsmanship of the glass grinding. The glass is not turned in the form and a special decoration is created by a negative pattern in the mould.

The fine grooves create a great play of light and shade on the ceiling and the surrounding walls. The simple, almost stylish neutral form of the ceiling light makes it versatile. Rituals can be easily combined with other types and sizes of lights from the family to make an even more impressive ensemble.

The designer couple, Ludovica + Roberto Palomba, have had their own design studio in Milan since 1994. They are involved with many international brands and have already received numerous awards, including the Compasso d'Oro, a well-known Italian industrial award.
