Ball pendant light: new version of the classic from 1968 The Ball lighting series by Benny Frandsen - consisting of various wall, table, floor and pendant lights - began in 1968 with the now classic Ball Magnet wall light and the Ball pendant light. The appeal of the round shapes, refreshed in colour and with a white lacquered shade inside for improved light reflection, continues in the latest version of the Ball pendant light. Benny Frandsen, the founder of the manufacturing company Frandsen from Skanderborg in Denmark, began designing and manufacturing lights in 1968 after training as an engineer. His first lights had geometric shapes, which did not go down well with the Danes, so he turned to the round shapes favoured by his fellow countrymen. This led to the creation of the Ball wall light and the Ball pendant light, which have since become design classics - light is emitted directly downwards and indirectly upwards through the ring-shaped openings in the lampshade
