Made from sustainable bamboo – Bhutan pendant light with double shade

Whether it’s planting trees or helping people in need, the Good & Mojo brand from the Dutch company IT'S ABOUT ROMI is involved in many charitable projects and manufactures sustainable lights to keep its ecological footprint as small as possible whilst still creating attractive products. For every light sold, a tree is planted; this is made possible through a partnership with Eden Reforestation Projects, which, amongst other things, works to reduce the extreme poverty experienced by many people by providing employment for villagers.

Bamboo was used in the manufacture of the ‘Bhutan’ pendant light. It is a sturdy, strong material that is particularly impressive due to its rapid growth and its ability to produce large amounts of oxygen. Its flexible nature meant that the two lampshades of the pendant light could be hand-woven. This has resulted in an attractive pattern that creates an atmospheric play of light as soon as the light from inside shines out into the room. The lampshades are constructed in two layers. Whilst the inner lampshade is narrow and tall and made from pure, natural-coloured bamboo, the outer lampshade is wide and short and also features black bamboo, which gives the light its distinctive character.
