Versatile: FL/Y designer hanging light with LED - designed by Ferruccio Laviani The FL/Y hanging light from Kartell is a typical all-rounder: whether in the kitchen, dining room or living room - a light with the design and functionality of FL/Y can be used anywhere. The lampshade is neither spherical nor hemispherical, the cut was made slightly below the centre. This means that the light is collected even better and the area underneath is illuminated more precisely. Colourful and versatile are the many variants of FL/Y, whose lampshade is made of plastic - a matter of course for a Kartell product. Plastic is the material that defines Kartell's designer pieces and thus the company itself. Since the company was founded in 1949, the designers who work for Kartell have been concerned with the question of how plastic can be utilised and how it can best be designed and processed so that functionality and aesthetics harmonise perfectly. The Milan-based company's best-known designer pieces include the K 1340 children's chair and the KS 1481 lemon squeezer, while in the lighting sector, the 4006 model by Achille and Piergiacomo Castiglioni from 1959 and the Tic Tac series are highly recognisable flagship products.
