The shade is neither spherical nor hemispherical, the cut was made slightly below the centre. This has the effect that the light is collected even better and the area underneath is illuminated in a more targeted way. Plastic is the material that determines the designer pieces by Kartell and thus also the company itself. Since the foundation in 1949, the designers working for Kartell have been dealing with the question of how to make use of plastic and how to best design and process it so that functionality and aesthetics harmonise perfectly. Among the most famous designer pieces of the Milan-based company are, for example, the children's chair K 1340 and the lemon squeezer KS 1481. In the lighting sector, it is the model 4006 by Achille and Piergiacomo Castiglioni from 1959 and the series Tic Tac that serve as a flagship and have a high recognition value.
