La Petite wall light with a classically modern design


The two Italian designers Andrea Quaglio and Manuela Simonelli combined a traditional lampshade design with a clever wall mounting for their La Petite wall light, and turned the traditional into a modern classic. The black plastic shade is covered by an opal diffuser both upwards and downwards, thus ensuring zero glare and optimum light distribution. It is attached to the wall with a slanted rod - this design element moves far away from standard wall lights with lampshades. The result is something fundamentally classic, which has been re-imagined for a modern setting.

The La Petite wall light can be dimmed using a wall dimmer when used with a dimmable bulb.

Designer duo Quaglio and Simonelli are from Italy but work and live in Paris. After two years of working with Philippe Starck, they opened their own design studio. They designed the light series La Petite for Artemide. Artemide is considered one of the world's leading manufacturers of designer lighting. Based in Pregnana near Milan, the company was founded in 1960 by Ernesto Gismondi. The structure of the company includes not only a global sales network but also five production facilities, two glass factories and a research and innovation centre with test laboratories.
