Cirque designer hanging light – a skilful interplay of colours and shapes

Thanks to its distinctive colour scheme and design, the Cirque hanging light is an eye-catching feature in any room, whether switched on or off. This is due, on the one hand, to the beautiful colour gradation and, on the other, to the shape, which was inspired by the famous onion domes in the Tivoli Gardens. The gradation of the individual colours refers to the perception of colours in circular motion, whereby they are often perceived as continuous lines.

The lampshade is made of drawn aluminium and is painted white on the inside, ensuring optimal reflection of the soft light, which is directed downwards and emitted without glare.

Cirque (French for ‘circus’) is a design by Clara von Zweigbergk, who was born in Stockholm and, after completing her studies (graphic design and illustration), worked for advertising agencies and design studios in Stockholm, Los Angeles and Milan. She now runs her own graphic design studio, where she is able to combine her many areas of interest perfectly.

The Cirque light series by the designer – who has been honoured with, amongst others, the Wallpaper Design Award 2012 and the Swedish Design Award 2012 – was created in collaboration with the lighting company Louis Poulsen, which is dedicated to the art of giving form to light.
