Antique-style outdoor wall light Nyhavn made of copper - Design: Alfred Homann & Ole V. Kjær In 1976, the lighting company Louis Poulsen from Denmark announced a competition for lights for the illumination of old city districts worthy of preservation, for which Alfred Hohmann & Ole V. Kjær created the Nyhavn outdoor wall light. They won first place with their design for the wall light with the conical, wide lampshade, which directs the light directly downwards over a wide area and thus provides large-area diffuse ambient lighting. Nyhavn also emits the light of the lamp used upwards all round. Three anti-glare rings ensure a glare-free lighting effect. Louis Poulsen was founded in 1874. The lights produced by the Danish company are not given their shape for their own sake, but to give form to the light they produce.
