Organic-looking designer pendant light Patera - Ø 45 cm


The creator of this unique pendant light, whose spherical lampshade is composed of countless small diamond-shaped cells, is Øivind Slaatto. The Danish designer is guided by his natural sensitivity to light and inspired by nature. He is particularly interested in the Fibonacci sequence, as seen in sunflowers, for example.

The Fibonacci sequence is a natural sequence of numbers in which the first two numbers are one and each subsequent number is the sum of the two previous numbers. In plants, a Fibonacci sequence can often be observed in the arrangement of their leaves. They often have spirals of leaves that group around the shoot axis to achieve the best luminous efficiency. Following this principle, each cell in the Patera pendant light has been designed to capture the light and shield the bulb at an angle of more than 45°. Each individual cell glows. At an angle of less than 45 degrees, the cells are open and direct the light downwards. A small portion of the light is also directed upwards and shines against the ceiling.

A light that fits perfectly with the philosophy of manufacturer Louis Poulsen, according to which products do not take their form for their own sake, but to give shape to the light they produce.
