Bottom direct, side indirect distribution design pendant lamp Patera Oval

Patera Oval is at first glance a simple but excellently thought-out light source. The flat-oval shade made of matt white plastic is divided into numerous diamond-like cells. Through these, the light of the integrated LEDs is emitted downwards unhindered, so that, for example, the table surface below is directly illuminated. If the observer is outside a cone of 40° below the luminaire, the light source is no longer visible. The light is reflected by the side walls of the cells, emitted indirectly and creates a soft ambient lighting in the room. By using an included diffuser, the light emitted directly downwards can also be glared.

The Danish designer Øivind Slaatto used the Fibonacci sequence as a model for the design of the structure, a mathematical series of consecutive numbers, each of which is obtained by adding the two previous numbers. This sequence is revealed in numerous natural objects, such as the structure of leaves or snail shells.

The lamp series Patera ideally complements the maxim of the lamp manufacturer Louis Poulsen, founded in 1874, to give form to light with deliberate designs and to generate a positive effect on people and space.
