PH 3/2 wall light – a glamorous additional light source
The PH 3/2 wall light is one of 19 models with around 1,000 variations in the series of three-lampshade lights designed by the Danish designer, architect, writer and journalist, Poul Henningsen. Henningsen’s aim was to create lights that provided glare-free illumination. Initially the three-lampshade lights were made of metal but later, as with the PH 3/2 wall light, they were made from glass, so the light shines not just downwards, but also around the room too. The matt, sand-blasted interior of the hand-blown opal glass elements serves to create a soft lighting atmosphere.
Poul Henningsen’s co-operation with the lighting company Louis Poulsen, whose design and light philosophy of lending light form began with this co-operation, lasted from 1925 until his death in 1967.
