Attractively designed PH 4/3 pendant light – 40 cm diameter


When switched off, the PH 4/3 pendant light looks very decorative thanks to its attractive three-piece lampshade. But as soon as the light is switched on, the true beauty of this time-tested yet novel-looking light source is revealed.

When you consider the timelessness of the design, you wouldn’t guess that the design of the three-part lampshade dates back to 1925/26, when Poul Henningsen, a designer from Denmark, created this type of lampshade with the desire to create a light with totally glare-free lighting. Just as with the lampshades from back then, the PH 4/3 pendant light is made of metal; in this case extruded, white-painted aluminium.

The light is predominantly emitted downwards and provides very homogeneous and comfortable lighting for the surroundings – a dining area for example.

The lighting company Louis Poulsen values the principle of “form following function” – this means that the light itself is incorporated into the design stage so that products look good, whether they are switched on or off.
