The PH 5 pendant light was designed in 1958 by the Danish designer Poul Henningsen. It was his response to the constantly changing forms and sizes of traditional light bulbs. It owes its name to the size of the main shade, which has a diameter of 50 cm. The designer lived from 1894 to 1967 and created numerous designer lights for the traditional Danish company Louis Poulsen, which has been producing designer lights for over 100 years.
