The VL Ring Crown 2-bulb wall light adds a stylish touch to any home

In the 1940s, the Danish architect Vilhelm Lauritzen designed wall and pendant lights for the radio building in Copenhagen; the brand Louis Poulsen has now added these to its range, retaining the original design and the materials used at the time.

Part of the VL Ring Crown series is this wall light with its two elegantly shaped lampshades made from handblown opal glass. The lampshades are open at the bottom and cast a direct light in that direction. In addition, the light also filters gently through the white opal glass, bathing the surroundings in a pleasantly warm glow. The wall mount of the light is made of untreated brass, the surface of which may change over time and develop a patina.

In both his architectural works and his lighting designs, Lauritzen’s focus was always on the interplay of different light intensities. In his lighting designs, he combined a strong, directional light that casts shadows with a softer, diffused light that creates subtle nuances – a feature that is also evident in the VL Ring Crown wall light.
