Medusa LED table lamp with clear glass cylinder


Medusa is a very special LED table lamp. Andrea Quaglio and Manuela Simonelli, who have been focusing on the design of furniture and other objects for years, designed this light for Oluce, a glass table lamp based on the fundamental principle of integrating a metal dome into a cylinder. The dome contains the light source and the glass body delicately diffuses the light onto the surface supported by the lamp. Medusa reverses the relationship between the base and the lampshade. The base does not support the lampshade, but rather encloses it. The dome that houses the light source is suspended from the cylinder by an elegant glass fold. The electrical cable completes the design by hanging freely from the centre of the diffuser and appearing to sway through reflections, giving the lamp a feeling of lightness.
