A piece of German Bauhaus history - the Wagenfeld floor lamp according to the original design as an authorized reedition

This Wagenfeld floor lamp is a copyright protected reedition authorized by Prof. Wilhelm Wagenfeld, which may only be manufactured by the company TECNOLUMEN. The authenticity of this lamp can be easily recognized, because each lamp is consecutively numbered and bears the TECNOLUMEN mark under the base plate.

The characteristic design of the Wagenfeld floor lamp is obvious at first glance. The textile shade in opal white, which tapers to the top, is crowned by a nickel-plated metal tip. Under the shade also shows a straight cylindrical sub-shade, which surrounds the illuminant. This combination of two shades creates a unique light accent on the outer shade, allowing the light to shine brighter as it flows upward. The rod is made of brass with nickel finish and placed on a black lacquered lamp base. Connected to the base of the lamp is the supply cable, also with black textile sheathing. The characteristic grommet on the socket is also found on this Wagenfeld lamp. On it is the black pull cord for switching the lamp on and off, which holds the nickel-plated metal ball at the end. The combination of these quality features, which can only be found on Wagenfeld lamps, reveals the authenticity of the Wagenfeld floor lamp.

It is a unique designer lamp that has its origins in the Bauhaus era and is thus strongly rooted in German history. This significant piece of history had its beginning in the 1920s, when Bauhaus design flourished in Weimar. The leading artists of their time came together to create countless masterpieces and something entirely new. This merging of art and craft had its vision in that the form of an object at any given time would follow its intended use, material properties and manufacturing method. The then 24-year-old journeyman Wilhelm Wagenfeld designed the original Wagenfeld table lamp as well as many other models, which includes this Wagenfeld floor lamp. Wagenfeld was not only a designer, teacher and manager of metal and glass workshops, but also accepted a professorship at the Academy of Fine Arts in Berlin.

The company TECNOLUMEN had its start in 1979 with the reproduction of the Wagenfeld lamp, which was produced in the manufactory in Bremen. TECNOLUMEN is exclusively committed to the Bauhaus style and its revival. Therefore, contemporary works of Bauhaus students and pupils of that time are reproduced, but also models from the Art Deco period, from the environment of De Stijl and contemporary artists as well as company founder Walter Schnepel, whose design is closely linked to the vision of Bauhaus design.
