Designer LED pendant light Planet with fascinating crystal effect Can a lampshade made of resin, or more precisely thermoplastic technopolymer, sparkle just like a crystal shade? This was precisely the question designer Tokujin Yoshioka asked himself when he was developing a new series of lamps. The challenge Yoshioka set himself was to process and work a plastic material in such a way that it could produce a similar sparkling effect to crystals. Many prototypes were necessary until the right modelling for the lampshade was found. The crystal effect is mainly created by working with different material thicknesses and layers of resin of different thicknesses. Tokujin Yoshioka designed the LED pendant light Planet for the Italian company Kartell, which is known for its designer pieces made of plastic, including furniture and household goods as well as lights. Kartell's lighting division began with the 4006 model by Achille and Piergiacomo Castiglioni in 1959. Another classic luminaire is the Tic Tac series, which was created in 1970. Many of the designer pieces from Hausen have not only won various prizes, but can now also be admired as modern Klassik in museums.
